It always depends on people

Sience I pick IB Literature and Performence class, I know I will discover more and more about the connection and difference between them. "writings in which expression and form, in connection with ideas of permanent and universal interest, are characteristic or essential features, as poetry, novels, history, biography, and essays" (Dictionary.com). This is the definition of "Literature", and we can see literature is always about writing. I consider that literature is the performence which is presented by words. "the act of performing a ceremony, play, piece of music, etc" (Dictionary.com). From this definition of "Performence", I think it is the acting of some kinds of literature. For example, before we present a show, we have to have a play of the show. I will introduce my ideas much comprehensive to you in this essay. 

Literature is the performence which is presented by words. I have this idea because I have seen so many great books, and most of them give me a picture in my mind which tells the story. Sometimes the original literature is too hard to make it a performence. For example, in this summer I saw the movie Tinny Times with my friends, and I read this novel 2 years ago. To be honest, this movie ruined the novel, so when it is not easy to bring words to the real life. However, I have also seen some great performence of the novel. For example, The Giver is both a great movie and a book. I would say that performence is someway from the literature, but it can change your understanding of the literature. Literature is always controlled by the author, but the performence is so much different.

Performence is acting of some kinds of literature, and it is always different from the literature. As we all know, even same actors will act in different ways for same shows, so the performence is really controlled by all different kinds people who are in the performence. Ms. Guarino always say "Making a play is really like making a company." From my point of view, I consider the performence as the production which is made by so many different people who help teach and learn from each. It is much harder to make a performence than to make a literature because when you are making a play or show you have to think every details about every person, setting, timing and lighting.

Literature and Performence would be two of the most important thing in my life, and I will use my rest of life to enjoy them and learn them.
